NYC Marathon Runner Spotlight: Meet Traci Copeland

The 2015 New York City Marathon is fast approaching and the Children's Cancer & Blood Foundation has several superstar runners representing our organization this year. A current Nike Master Trainer, yoga instructor, Wilhelmina fitness model, and youth mentor, Traci will be joining Team CCBF. Traci has already completed two marathons, but has chosen to run this year's New York City Marathon on behalf of CCBF to help in the fight to find new cures and better treatments for kids with cancer and blood diseases.

Traci Copeland, originally a Midwest native, was a competitive gymnast for 13 years and then went on to compete in track and field for Georgetown University at the Division 1 level. Copeland found comfort for a reoccurring knee injury in yoga. It allowed her to become more versatile, and at the same time continue her running lifestyle. Marathon training gave Traci a sense of accomplishment due to her competitive nature in track and field.

Traci has an impressive and distinguished resume. She is a former Hip-Hop/Street dancer who has the ability to perform on stage with artists such as Jay-Z and Beyonce. She has also appeared on the TV screen in Fashion Rocks and the Victoria Secret Fashion Show. Copeland, in her athletic nature, has appeared in several workout videos such as Runner's World and Insanity. You can see her in magazines and in campaigns for some of the top athletic brands in the world including Women's Health Mag, Self, Shape, Runner's World, Health, Cosmo, and Prevention.

Copeland is one of twelve runners in the CCBF team for the NYC Marathon, taking place on November 1st, 2015. We are thankful for athlete Traci Copeland choosing to run with our team for a worth-while cause.
