World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day (WCD) 2014 is taking place on Tuesday, Febraury 4th. It is a chance for people around the world to raise their voices to raise awareness and improve general knowledge around cancer. World Cancer Day 2014 is building on the success of last year's campaign, by focusing on reducing stigma and dispelling misconceptions about the disease. 

Belfer Research Building Opens at Weill Cornell Medical Center

Weill Cornell Medical College is eagerly anticipating the grand opening of the Belfer Research Building in January 2014. The 480,000 square-foot facility will double the medical college's existing research space. The building will house bench-to-bedside cancer research led by CCBF scientists and physicians, as well as research on illnesses including cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative diseases, and global health and infectious diseases. 

Support CCBF's Patient Fund

Miguel is a two-year-old boy living with sickle cell disease. He has been a patient of Dr. Kucine's at the Division since birth. Due to his illness, Miguel has required regular outpatient visits for follow up. On his most recent visit to the clinic, his mother reported that he was experiencing pain in his hands and feet. Dr. Kucine prescribed a standard treatment option to decrease the effects of sickle cell, reduce pain and maintain his current level of health and medical stability. 

Highlights of American Society of Hematology (ASH®) in North America

The ninth official Highlights of ASH® in New York will take place on Friday, January 17th and Saturday, January 18th. The conference will feature leading hematology experts who will present unbiased analysis of the 55th ASH® Annual Meeting abstracts and sessions, including evolving therapies, the latest treatment options, and their clinical applications.

CCBF Division Holiday Party

Each year the children at the CCBF Clinic eagerly anticipate one of the happiest events of the year - the Holiday Party! This year's annual Holiday Party will take place on Tuesday, December 17th from 12:30 - 3:30 pm at the CCBF Clinic. With a visit from a face-painter, arts-and-crafts for the kids and lots of holiday fun, the event is guaranteed to be a jolly time for patients and their families! 

Of course the Holiday Party wouldn't be complete without a visit from Santa and some of his reindeer and a gift for every girl and boy! 

CCBF Cooking Class with 'Cesca

On Wednesday, December 4th, the Chef of 'Cesca, a premier dining destination located at the heart of the Upper West Side will visit the kids at the CCBF clinic to lend his time and talent. The children can look forward to an exciting cooking show and some delicious treats - all with a fun, holiday twist! 

The Annual Masonic Toys for Tots Event

The annual Masonic Toys for Tots event will take place at the Griffis Faculty Club on the morning of Thursday, December 5th, 2013.

Stay tuned for more information about this exciting holiday event which raises funds for the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at New York Persbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

 

Buccellati Cocktail Event

On Wednesday, November 20th, Buccellati is hosting an intimate cocktail event at their Upper East Side boutique from 6pm-8pm. Buccellati is inviting CCBF supporters to attend this event and shop their collection at a discounted price. A portion of the evening's sales will directly benefit CCBF.
