Sickle Cell Anemia
Definition:
Sickle-Cell Anemia is characterized by red blood cells that become an abnormal, sickle ("C"-shaped) shaped rather than the normal, rounded form. This causes restriction in their movement through the blood vessels, which deprives the body of oxygen.
