Dr. Giardina Recognized for Community Service

Our congratulations go out to Dr. Patricia Giardina who will be receiving the Masons 2009 Robert H. Jackson award for community service this weekend in Syracuse.

CCBF Doctors Recognized as New York Magazine Best Doctors

Dr. James Bussel and Dr. Alexander Aledo were named as two of New York Magazine’s top 100 doctors. Dr. Bussel is known for his ground-breaking work with ITP. Dr. Aledo continues to work with pediatric cancer patients in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology as well as across the New York area.

Dr. Giardina Featured in Arthur Bank’s “Turning Blood Red: The Fight for Life in Cooley’s Anemia”

Arthur Bank, M.D., Professor Emeritus of Medicine and of Genetics and Development at Columbia University and a longtime leader in thalassemia research, has recently published a new book Turning Blood Red: The Fight for Life in Cooley’s Anemia. In his book, Dr. Bank praises Dr. Giardina’s outstanding clinical work and research for patients with Cooley’s Anemia.

Dr. DiMichele featured in “Blood Detectives”

In 2007, Dr. DiMichele and two families under her clinical care participated in the filming of a hematology documentary named “Blood Detectives,” which premiered on Discovery Health on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 7:00 pm EST and again at 12:00 midnight.

FDA Approves First Oral Medication to Increase Platelet Production for ITP Patients
